Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
In either a large bowl or food processor combine the flour with 1/2 cup of brown sugar.
Either cut in the butter with a pastry blender or pulse food processor until coarse crumbs form. If there are a few small pieces of butter it is okay.
Press mixture evenly into a baking tray.
Bake for 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, lightly beat the eggs in a large bowl.
Add the remaining brown sugar and salt.
Add in the cherries, nuts and chocolate chips. Mix well.
Spoon mixture overtop of baked cookie layer. Press down firmly to adhere layers.
Bake for an additional 20 minutes.
Cool completely before cutting and serving.
